PLATINUM CITY ROVERS AND NB LA MASIA RELEGATED FROM MFC

Results from Round 30 of the Motsepe Foundation Championship season for 2023/24 have confirmed the relegation of both Platinum City Rovers and NB La Masia to the ABC Motsepe League and amateur football next season.

PLATINUM CITY ROVERS

Rovers were relegated with after their loss in Round 28 against Casric Stars in KwaMahlanga. The scoreline was 4 - 2 to the home side. A goalless draw against Maritburg United in Round 29 and a final day home 1 - 2 loss against Hungry Lions confirmed the return to the ABC Motsepe League for the North West side.

Rovers won the ABC Motsepe League title in the North West in the 20/21 season. They won Group C of the Playoffs, beat Glendene in the semi-finals on penalties, but lost to Hungry Lions in the final. Rovers finished 10th in the first season in the NFD and 14th last season. 

NB LA MASIA

With three rounds of the MFC season remaining, La Masia lay in 13th position, just 1 point above the relegation zone. La masia lost 1 - 4 to Upington City in Round 28 to compound their problems. A loss to Marumo Gallants in Round 29 and a further defeat away at Black Leopards confirmed their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.   

La Masia won the ABC Motsepe League title in Gauteng in the 21/22 season. They won Group B of the Playoffs, beat Spear of the Nation in the semi-finals and beat Magesi FC in the final. La Masia finished 13th in their first season in the NFD, the 2022/23 campaign.
