STEENBERG UNITED AND JDR STARS IN THE NFD

Western Cape's Steenberg United FC and JDR Stars from Gauteng both qualified to play in the NFD for the 2019/20 season after winning their respective semi-finals at the ABC Motsepe League Promotional Playoffs in Cape Town on Friday. Steenberg United beat NW Province champions Casric 1 - 0, while JDR Stars saw off Northern Cape side Hungry Lions with a 3 - 0 scoreline.

Steenberg and JDR Stars will do battle for the title of ABC Motsepe League champions at 13h00 on Saturday, with the winners pocketing a cool R1 million and the runner-up R500 000.00

ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE NATIONAL PLAYOFFS-2019

The ABC Motsepe League national playoffs got under way in Cape Town on Tuesday and all the matches have been played in each group. Steenberg United beat Casric 1 - 0 in the one semi-final, while JDR Stars defeated Hungry Lions 3 - 0 in the other semi-final. Both Steenberg and JDR Stars will compete in the NFD next season. The final will be contested on Saturday with the winning team taking home R1m and the runner-up bagging R500 000.00  

TS GALAXY CREATE NEDBANK CUP HISTORY

National First Division outfit TS Galaxy caused not only a major upset on Saturday in beating Premier League side Kaizer Chiefs 1 - 0 in the Nedbank Cup, but by doing so became the first club from the lower ranks of south African football to win the "Cup of Dreams". Thabiso Kutumela's late penalty enough for the win.

VENUE FOR NEDBANK CUP FINAL CONFIRMED

The PSL has confirmed that the final for the 2019 Nedbank Cup between Kaizer Chaiefs and NFD rookies TS Galaxy will be held at the Moses Mabidha Stadium on the 18th of May 2019.

Amakhozi are the most succesful side in the history of the Nedbank Cup in it's various forms since Chiefs beat Pirates 2 - 1 in a replay of the Life Challenge Cup in 1971. The Naturena based side have won the competition 13 times in the past with their last win coming in 2013 when they beat Supersport United 1 - 0 in the Nedbank Cup.

PROMOTION PLAYOFF DRAW CONFIRMED

The Promotion Play-off draw was conducted on Thursday afternoon in Johannesburg at the headquarters of the PSL.

The Premier Soccer League confirmed that the Promotion Play-offs will kick-off on Wednesday, 15 May 2019.

The last fixture of the play-offs will be played on 01 June 2019.
