The NFD and footballing world in general woke to the news that the chairman of Uthongathi FC, Mr. Nicholas Mkhize had been gunned down on Monday night after leaving the weekly club meeting. Mr. Mkhize had presided over the most successful era of the club, seeing Uthongathi FC win the KZN ABC Motsepe League and the ABC Motsepe League playoffs in the same season to see his club advance to the NFD for the first time. Uthongathi FC finished 11th in their debut season in the NFD and currently lie 6th on the log after 3 rounds in their second season. They are one of eight unbeaten teams going into Round 4. 

The KZN derby against Real Kings that meant to be played this Saturday, has been postponed to a date yet to be announced.
