National First Division outfit TS Galaxy caused not only a major upset on Saturday in beating Premier League side Kaizer Chiefs 1 - 0 in the Nedbank Cup, but by doing so became the first club from the lower ranks of south African football to win the "Cup of Dreams". Thabiso Kutumela's late penalty enough for the win.
Tim Sukazi bought the status of first division side Cape Town All Stars at the beginning of the 2018/19 season and taking side from the ABC Motsepe League to the paid ranks and the NFD. The team is based in KwaNdebele. Vusi Mkhatshwa was appointed coach, but was later replaced by the experienced Dan Malasela. Despite a season of inconsistent results, the Rockets finished 8th in the NFD in their inaugural season.
The win in the Nedbank Cup is a massive achievement for TS Galaxy and all their members. It also sends a signal that NFD teams should not be taken lightly.
