PROMOTIONAL PLAYOFFS - MATCH 6 PREVIEW

BLACK LEOPARDS vs BAROKA FC

The fate of the two Limpopo sides will be decided in the final match of the 6 match Promotional Playoff series in Thohoyandou this afternoon.

Baroka are in pole position to retain their spot in the PSL after beating both Stellenbosch FC and Black Leopards. They are they only side that are unbeaten in the Playoffs. Leopards had to wait until Round 5 to pick up their first win of the series, a 3 – 1 win in Cape Town over Stellenbosch FC who no longer have any chance of qualifying to play in the PSL next season. Today will be somewhat of a grudge affair after Leopards felt that they were hard done by in the first meeting between the two sides which Baroka won 2 – 1. 11 minutes into that match, Baroka’s Moeti collided with Leopards keeper Maluleke. The goalminder stayed down and was eventually replaced due to injury. However, the referee allowed play to continue and Baroka scored from the disputed situation, eventually bagging the 3 points.

Leopards must win by a two goal margin to qualify for the PSL while Baroka require only a draw or a loss by a single goal as they have scored more goals than Leopards.

Baroka bagged their first ever win against Leopards when the teams met in Round 3, but Leopards still have a slightly better head to head record against their neighbours courtesy of a season double in the 2014/15 season.
