NFD 2017/18 - WEEK 21 WRAP

CT ALL STARS 3 TSHAKHUMA TSHA MADZIHANDILA 1

All Stars completed a clean sweep of wins against TTM on Friday having beaten the Limpopo based club in Venda in the NFD and also at home in a Nedbank Cup qualifier earlier in the season. The win for the Cape side leaves them unbeaten in 2018 and lifts them 1 place to 9th, but more importantly 10 points clear of any relegation worries. The loss for TTM FC drops them to 3rd, 11 points behind logleaders Highlands Park and is their first loss in 2018.

NFD NEDBANK CUP ROUND ONE WRAP

HAPPY WANDERERS 0 ROYAL EAGLES 1

Embattled KZN side royal Eagles became the second NFD outfit to qualify for the Round of 16 draw after they held off a spirited challenge in KZN derby on Sunday. Mame Niang scored his first goal for his new club to see Eagles join Ubuntu CT FC in the next round. The win also provides a winning start for new Eagles coach Roger Sikhakane.

WITBANK SPURS 2 REAL KINGS 1

Championship challenging Real Kings suffered first defeat in seven outings, to drop 9 points behind logleaders Highlands Park and into third on the log, with TTM FC taking over second position. Spurs remain in 8th, but the gap to the Playoff spots has been reduced to just 4 points. The Witbank side have played the most draws this season – 10, and should they convert their opportunities better, might get into contention for the post season.

NFD 2017/18 - WEEK 19 WRAP

REAL KINGS 1 UTHONGATHI FC 1

In form Real Kings missed out on a chance to close the gap to logleaders Highlands Park when they drew the KZN derby on Saturday with Uthongathi. Mondli Miya scored for the home side in his last appearance for Kings before joining Polokwane City, but Vilane nabbed his 5th of the season for the equaliser, leaving new coach Sammy Troughton unbeaten since joining the Cane Cutters. Kings stay 6 points behind Highlands with Uthongathi remaining in 11th.

NFD 2017/18 - WEEK 18 WRAP

ROYAL EAGLES 5 RICHARDS BAY 2

Royal Eagles moved a further place away from the relegation zone and became the NFD’s leading scorers after their win over Richards Bay in the KZN derby on Saturday. While the Maritzburg side are still conceding the most goals in the league, they have at least a zero goal difference – the beat out of the bottom 6 sides. The loss was the first for Richards Bay in five outings and drops them to just outside the drop zone.

STELLENBOSCH FC 2 MTHATHA BUCKS 1

NFD 2017/18 - WEEK 17 WRAP

HIGHLANDS PARK 1 REAL KINGS 1

Logleaders Highlands Park might have drawn against Kings on Saturday, but with all the chasing sides dropping points too, the Tembisa side held on to their 5 point lead at the top of the table and extended their unbeaten NFD run to 12 matches. Theron scored his second of the season for the home side, while Mtshali opened his account for the visitors. Real Kings are four matches unbeaten.

WITBANK SPURS 2 UTHONGATHI FC 0

UTHONGATHI FC PARTS WAY WITH GABRIEL

The man who took Uthongathi FC to the ABC Motsepe League title and R1m in prize money has been released from the KZN club. Ronniie Gabriel becomes the 14th coach this season to be relieved of his duties. The move from Uthongathi FC comes after a 2 - 0 loss at the hands of Witbank Spurs over the past weekend, but is probably a culmination of the club winning just one match in their last ten and dropping to 13th position, but just one point clear of the relegation zone.
