NFD NEDBANK CUP ROUND of 16 WRAP

JOMO COSMOS 1 BIDVEST WITS 1 (Cosmos win 5-4 on Penalties)

Jomo Cosmos became the only team from the NFD to qualify for the quarterfinal draw of the Nedbank Cup, when they knocked PSL title challenging Bidvest Wits out on Tuesday. Cosmos opened the scoring when Onassis Mntambo showed great composure and technique to beat Slimkat Jospehs on the stroke of halftime. The visitors consolidated their attack in the second half and grabbed the equaliser through an Ngele header from a corner half way through the second half. No further goals were scored in the remaining minutes of regulation time or in extra time and the match was decided 5 – 4 on penalties in favour of the NFD outfit.

BLOEMFONTEIN CELTIC 2 MBOMBELA UNITED FC 1

Bloemfontein Celtic won the first ever meeting between the two sides to see the hope of a 2nd NFD side in the quarterfinal draw dashed on Sunday. A brace from Abdul Razak was the undoing of the Mpumalanga side whose consolation goal came from Jermaine Christian.
