NFD 2018/19 - WEEK 11 PREVIEW

STELLENBOSCH FC vs JOMO COSMOS

Stellenbosch FC will play at home for only the 4th time this season when they host Cosmos on Saturday. It’s been a good season for the Cape side who have won 5 out 7 matches on the road and are unbeaten at home. Cosmos travel to the Mother City on the back of a winless run of three matches with 2 draws and a loss. Added to that, cosmos have never neaten Stellenbosch in the Cape.

TS SPORTING vs RICHARDS BAY

It’s been a good debut season for TS Sporting thus far and one waits to see the impact of newly appointed Technical Director Sammy Troughton. Sporting are the best placed of the Mpumalanga sides, sitting third on the log just two points behind logleaders Stellenbosch FC. Richards Bay have yet to win on the road this season having picked just one point in four away outings. This will be the first meeting between the two sides.  

MACCABI FC vs UTHONGATHI FC

ABC Motsepe League Champions in consecutive years pitches 2017/18 winners against the winners of 2016/17 with Uthongathi travelling to the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday. Although the KZN side 4th on the log after 10 rounds, they are yet to win on the road and have played 7 out their 10 matches at home. Maccabi had a good away win over Royal Eagles last week, but haven’t won at home in just over a month. This will be the first meeting between the two sides.

WITBANK SPURS vs AJAX CAPE TOWN

Spurs dropped into the relegation zone after last weeks’ loss against TTM in Thohoyandou. They face another tough hurdle in Ajax Cape Town at home on Saturday in visiting Ajax Cape Town. Ajax had to fight back from a 2 goal deficit last week at home against Real Kings to salvage a draw and have only won two out of six matches on the road this season. This will be the first meeting between the two sides.

REAL KINGS vs CAPE UMOYA UNITED

The two sides just above the relegation zone will do battle on Saturday in a match that will have no benefit to either side except momentum and bragging rights. Both sides are on nine points with big minus goal differences making it unlikely for either team to escape the bottom four this week. This will be the first meeting between the two sides.

TS GALAXY vs UNIVERSITY of PRETORIA

TS Galaxy are unbeaten in their last three matches with two draws and a win. They face a Tuks side on Sunday who will looking to get their momentum back after suffering that 0 – 3 loss to Stellenbosch FC last week. While the home side have lost only once at the Kameelrivier Stadium this season, Tuks are unbeaten on the road. Both sides have new coaches this season. This will be the first meeting between the two sides.

 UBUNTU CT FC vs TSHAKHUMA TSHA MADZIVHANDILA

After playing just one match at home in 10 outings this season, bottom of the log Ubuntu will finally be able to play at home again in Round 11. They face a tough opponent in second placed TTM FC, but will have fond memories of the final clash of last season when Ubuntu beat the Limpopo side 3 – 1 to retain their place in the NFD on a nail biting final day. TTM have yet to win on the road this season, but are just one point off the top of the log.

MBOMBELA UNITED FC vs ROYAL EAGLES

The match between Mbombela and Royal Eagles has been rescheduled because of the funeral of the former Eagles coach Roger Sikhakane.
