NFD 2017/18 - WEEK 6 WRAP

CT ALL STARS 0 BLACK LEOPARDS 0

The struggles for both All Stars and Leopards continued as they played to a goalless draw on Friday. After winning their opening two matches, All Stars have only picked up two points in their next four outings. The story is more serious for Leopards who won in Round 1, with three draws and two losses since. All Stars still have never lost to Leopards at home.

HIGHLANDS PARK 1 UBUNTU CT FC 0

A new coach and a return to the winners circle for the Lions of the North. Highlands are 5th on the log and in pretty good shape. The same cannot be said for the former FC Cape Town, who are still looking for their first win as Ubuntu and are bottom of the log.

RICHARDS BAY FC 2 ROYAL EAGLES 3

The problems continue for former the Thanda as they suffered another loss and returned to the relegation zone. The away win for Royal Eagles in the KZN derby on Saturday was their first win of the season and saw the Pietermaritzburg side escape from the relegation zone. The loss for Richards Bay was only their second at home to Eagles in 7 meetings.

MTHATHA BUCKS 0 STELLENBOSCH FC 1

Logleaders Stellenbosch FC did what few teams are able to do, and that is to win in Mthatha. Their first ever win on the road against Bucks kept the Cape side at the top of the standings for a third week in a row and a 4th week in total.  The loss for the home side is their first defeat of the season, but Bucks are still in 3rd position on the log.

UNIVERSITY of PRETORIA 4 MBOMBELA UNITED FC 1

Memories of the 0-5 loss to Cosmos in Round 2 appear to have evaporated as Tuks have now won 4 in a row and are 2nd on the log, just 1 point behind logleaders Stellenbosch FC. Added to that is the fact the emphatic win is the first ever for Tuks over Mbombela. The loss for the side from Mpumalanga side is their first defeat on the road this season. Despite the loss, Mbombela are 4th on the log.

SUPER EAGLES 1 REAL KINGS FC 0

A second win of the season for newly promoted Super Eagles sees the Free State side up into the top half of the table. Visiting Real Kings suffered their first loss of the season and slip down to 10th on the log. This was the first meeting between the two sides.

JOMO COSMOS 1 UTHONGATHI FC 1

Cosmos continued their unbeaten record at the Vosloorus Stadium with the stalemate against NFD newcomers Uthongathi on Sunday, but drop one position to 6th. The visitors have yet to win on the road this season and are placed just outside the relegation zone. This was the first meeting between the two sides.

TSHAKHUMA TSHA MADZIHANDILA 2 WITBANK SPURS 2

Goals from Raphepele and Mrawu had Witbank Spurs leading by 2 goals by halftime only to see TTM FC fight back in the second half with a brace from Hlongwane to draw level by the end of 90 minutes. Spurs have not won since Round 1 and are currently in the bottom half of the table. Despite a couple of good wins, TTM FC have not been in the top half of the table this season as yet.
