NFD 2017/18 - WEEK 6 PREVIEW

CT ALL STARS vs BLACK LEOPARDS

Both All Stars and Leopards enjoyed winning starts to the new season, but that has appeared to have lasted long with neither side able to able to show much consistency. The Cape side won both of their opening matches and lead the NFD after Round 1, but 2 losses and a draw has seen them drop to 7th on the log. The situation is even worse for Leopards. Lidoda Duvha won their 1st match but 2 draws and 2 losses have the visiting side down in 13th place. All Stars have never lost to Leopards at home.

HIGHLANDS PARK vs UBUNTU CT FC

After 2 early season wins, Highlands Park have lost 3 in a row and slumped from being logleaders after Round 2, to 9th on the log. Owen da Gama takes over as coach for his first outing on Friday in Tembisa. If Highlands are having problems, then the Cape side are even worse off. Without a win this season, Ubuntu have drawn 4 and lost 1, and dropped into the relegation zone last week.

RICHARDS BAY FC v ROYAL EAGLES

A KZN derby on Saturday will see Richards Bay hoping to build on their opening win of the season last weekend. However, Royal Eagles will also be hoping for better fortunes as they find themselves at the bottom of the log without a victory. Richards Bay have only lost once at home to Eagles in 6 meetings, and that was in 2016.

MTHATHA BUCKS v STELLENBOSCH FC

A tough clash is expected in Mthatha on Saturday in a meeting between two of the top sides in the NFD this season. Stellenbosch FC hare the current logleaders and have been top of the table for 3 of the 5 weeks played this season. Bucks are also unbeaten and just two points below their visitors in 4th. Mthatha beat the Cape side 3 – 1 at home last season and a repeat will see the Eastern Cape leap above their Cape visitors on the log.

UNIVERSITY of PRETORIA v MBOMBELA UNITED FC

After slow starts to the season, both Tuks and Mbombela are showing decent form at the moment. Tuks drew in round 1 and were hammered 5 – 0 by Cosmos in the second round. However, with three 2 – 1 wins in a row, the Pretoria side have climbed to second on the log. Mbombela have won 3 and lost two this season, and are just 1 point and 1 spot behind their hosts going into this math on Saturday. Tuks have never beaten Mbombela either home or away and have never scored a goal at home against the visitors.

SUPER EAGLES v REAL KINGS FC

Newly promoted Super Eagles have won 1 and lost 1 match at home this season and meet Real Kings for the first time on Saturday. The visitors are one of only 3 unbeaten sides in the NFD. That record is a bit deceiving though as Kings have drawn 4 out of the 5 matches played so far.

JOMO COSMOS vs UTHONGATHI FC

Cosmos have enjoyed a winning return to Vosloorus with two in a row this season. They will be hoping to continue that form when hosting NFD rookies Uthongathi FC on Sunday. After a promising start to the season, the KZN side have lost 2 in a row and find themselves just above the relegation zone. This will be the first meeting between the two sides.

TSHAKHUMA TSHA MADZIHANDILA v WITBANK SPURS

With both sides losing in round 5, TTM FC and Spurs will want to get back to winning ways. Wins over Cosmos and Highlands has shown that the renamed Milano United are not a side to be taken lightly. After a promising start to the season, Spurs have slumped to 3 draws and lost their unbeaten record last weekend to Tuks to drop to 8th on the NFD log. TTM FC are 10th
