CT ALL STARS vs RICHARDS BAY FC
After winning against newly named TTM FC in their season opener on the road last weekend, the Cape side will fancy their chances of making it 3 wins in a row against Richards Bay FC (Thanda). All Stars have won 1 – 0 in both 2015/16 & 2016/17 at home against the men from Richards Bay. The visitors dropped points against Real Kings in a KZN derby last weekend in Round 1 and will want to make up ground quickly.
STELLENBOSCH FC vs UTHONGATHI FC
Top of the table after victory on the road against Ubuntu CT FC in Round 1, Stellenbosch FC will look to extend that situation as they take on newly promoted Uthongathi FC on Saturday. This will be the first meeting between the two sides. The visitors did well to hold Royal Eagles to a 1 – 1 stalemate in Round 1, but will do well to take points off the home side at the Athlone Stadium.
REAL KINGS vs WITBANK SPURS
Spurs are joint top of the NFD after their home win against NFD newcomers Super Eagles last weekend. They travel for the first time and meet a Real Kings side who are quite a handful at home. Kings won 7 and drew 4 of their home matches in their debut season and only finished 11th on the log because of poor results in their last 5 matches. Real Kings have never beaten Witbank Spurs.
ROYAL EAGLES vs HIGHLANDS PARK
While Royal Eagles were held to a 1 – 1 stalemate by NFD rookies Uthongathi FC in Round 1, Highlands Park signaled their intent by beating Cosmos 1 – 0 in Tembisa. The teams have the same record in head to head meetings with both having won 1 drawn 2 and lost a match against the other.
SUPER EAGLES vs MBOMBELA UNITED FC
NFD rookies Super Eagles will play at home for the first time as a pro club in what is likely to be a very cold Goble Park come Saturday. Eagles lost 1 – 2 away to Spurs in Round 1. Visiting Mbombela lost at home to Leopards in the opening round and will be hoping to make amends in this first meeting between the two sides.
JOMO COSMOS vs UNIVERSITY of PRETORIA
Cosmos will be hoping for their first points of the season on their return to the Vosloorus Stadium on Sunday. Cosmos lost their opener to Highlands Park last weekend. Tuks dropped points at home to Mthatha Bucks, and could find the going tough out on the far East Rand. Cosmos have never lost to the student side with 4 wins and 2 draws. Last season Cosmos beat Tuks 3 – 0 in this fixture.
MTHATHA BUCKS vs TSHAKHUMA TSHA MADZIHANDILA
Newly named TTM FC (Milano) face a mammoth task when they face Mthatha Bucks in Mthatha on Sunday. The home side lost just once at home all season and that was to Witbank Spurs in Round 25. Bucks drew against Tuks in Round 1, while TTM FC lost at home to CT All Stars. Mthatha put 3 goals past the former Milano in both of the previous seasons and it remains to be seen whether a name and location change can bring a different result on Sunday.
BLACK LEOPARDS vs UBUNTU CT FC
Lidoda Duvha signaled their intent of again challenging for honours this season when they beat Mbombela in Kanyamazane last weekend. Ubuntu lost against Stellenbosch FC at home. It’s never easy to travel to the Limpopo province, and the former FC Cape Town will have to play well to upset the home side. Leopards have won 5 out the 6 meetings against FC CT, and are unbeaten at home against the Cape side. Will the name change bring a change in fortunes for the Cape outfit?
