Royal Eagles' Sedwyn George became the Nfd's leading goal poacher when he opened the scoring for Thanda against Jomo Cosmos over the weekend. George has reached 13 goals which puts him one ahead of long time highest scorer, Mhlengi Cele of Thanda Royal Zulu.
It took George seven matches to get his first and then goals came in a avalanche. Four goals against Magesi on 22 October was quickly followed by a hattrick against FC C ape Town a week later. After failing to score against Santos in Round 9, George scored in his next 3 outings. A brace against Milano was followed by an away goal at Mthatha Bucks and then another brace at home against Tuks drew the Eagles man level with Cele. Monama grabbed the headlines with a brace against Amazulu, but George bounced back with his 14th of the season on Saturday.
Cele in the meanwhile had performed similar feats. Four goals against Spurs in Round 4 and two rounds later a hattrick away against FC Cape Town contributed mightily to his tally of 12. Sadly the Thanda striker has not scored in the last five outings, leaving the door open for the man of the moment - Sedwyn George.
