Mbombela United have appointed a new coach in Ashwin Sutton who takes over from Milton Dlamini at the Mpumalanga based side for the start if the second half of the season. His opening match at the resumption of the NFD after AFCON 2017 on Sunday 12 February could hardly be more difficult as Mbombela United take on unbeaten Thanda Royal Zulu in Richards Bay. Sutton was in charge of Free State side African Warriors in 2009, moved to Batau in 2010, was at Sivutsa Stars (now Royal Eagles) in 2012 and Blackburn Rovers in East London two years later. Sutton then joined Lidoda Duvha as Assistant Coach at the start of the 2014/15 season before taking over as coach two months later. He also coached CT All Stars in ealry 2016 and was part of the coaching team at Maritzburg United.
Mthatha Bucks have announced the arrival of experienced coach Ian Palmer in the former Transkei to take over the reigns from Velile Dlaloyi who had taken the Eastern Cape side to the NFD 18 months ago. The highly-respected mentor has a very good track record in South African football, having promoted Maritzburg United to the premier division. The 50-year-old former Orlando Pirates striker is no stranger to the NFD league having been in charge of African Warriors, Blackburn Rovers, Santos, Chippa United and recently at Milano United. Coach Taylor's first assignment will be a tough one against Jomo Cosmos in Mthatha on Saturday 11 February.
